About: White Ramie Top
This vegetable fiber comes from the plant known as “China grass” or Rhea, technically Boehmeria nivea. The plant grows in China and the Far East. Ramie fibers come from the inner portions of the plants bark. In processing, the fibers are degummed, bleached and combed. Ramie fibers are the strongest of all vegetable fibers. They are typically spun for weaving table linens because they lack elasticity.
