| Shirred Rug Making Shirred rug making is an American art that uses a special needle to crochét fabulous carpets from fabric scraps. Easier and faster than hooking or braiding, Shirret produces sturdy, soft and colorful carpets from wool or cotton recycled clothing or new fabric. Hand dyed fabrics in contemporary colors can be used for a designer look, or old clothing - plaids and prints, worn out jeans and T shirts - can be used for a primitive/folk art look. A rag cutter is very useful for making shirred rugs. |
