Gifts From The Hands & Heart… Thank You All!!!

Mike Wall Juggling It seems like forever ago when we started our 1st Halcyon Yarn Knit-a-Long,  July 2008.  It was a community support knit for two of our local soldiers who had been stationed with their units in Afghanistan.  Sgt. Wall and Sgt. Hood were just a few of the soldiers deployed from National Guard stations here in Maine and were the focus of this charitable drive to do “something” to aide our soldiers overseas.  Knitting naturally comes to mind when you have a group of us together, so helping in that way, along with Sgt. Wall’s mother’s request for some kind of appropriate mitten to be knit, was how the “Soldier’s Glomitt” & the “Guard’s Gauntlet” were born.  The designs were created in house and were designed to be simple enough for average knitting experience. We then put them out there to see what kind of response we could “muster up”.  Well, the response was so heart felt and immediate we knew it would be a great success from the start!

Glommit, closed The knit-a-long is now coming to a close although we are still receiving finished pairs .  We have sent a total of 126 pairs as of today, and have 8 pairs waiting to make another dozen, which I think will be the last box sent this winter.  The decision was that as long as we keep receiving the mittens, we will continue to ship them.  So, if you are unfinished, or you are inspired for the first time and want to do your part then please send them in to us and we will continue sending them as long as they come.

Thank you so much!  All of you that have reached far and wide with your hearts.

All of us here at Halcyon Yarn
