Adjustable Rug Frame with Floor Stand

Sit comfortably in your favorite chair while working on your rug. This lightweight frame is adjustable from 31" x 21" up to 39" x 29" . Basic Rug Hook, Size 10

In the New England tradition of no frills frugality, our basic hooks are functional and affordable. Available in sizes 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, the larger the hook number, the smaller the hook size. For example, use a #2 for primitive rugs and a #10 for 3/32" fabric strips. Collect the whole set!

Braidkin - Lacer

For years, rug braiders have turned to Braid-Aid for high quality braiding tools. All Braid-Aid tools are constructed of tempered steel and zinc plated for smoothness and long life. Until 1947 when the Braidkin was introduced all rugs were sewn together with thread and needle, a slow, painstaking effort. The Braidkin needle has an exact curve and tip shaped to insert under the loops of braid with ease and speed. The width and flatness keeps it from rolling or turning as you lace; and the double eye prevents thread from slipping. Great for use in knitting and weaving too.

Cotton Monk's Cloth 60"

Halcyon Yarn offers a high quality 100% cotton Monk's Cloth that is suitable for all your rug hooking and punching needs. Approximately 12 double threads per inch. Monk's cloth is woven in a basket weave structure which is sturdier, yet just as flexible as the plain weave structure of burlap and other backings. Another great feature is the white grid line that runs vertically every two inches. These lines make it easy to position your design and to stretch the cloth evenly on your frame. Sold by the yard.

There are 13 warps and 13 wefts per inch in our 100% cotton warp cloth. It is woven with single strands of tightly twisted cotton warp. The threads deflect to allow the passage of yarn or fabric. Cotton warp cloth will accommodate all sizes of yarn and allows one to hook or punch without skipping spaces. Many prefer using cotton warp cloth because of its superior strength. 60 inches wide.

Locker Hook

Locker hooking is a fast, easy and economical way to create rugs and wall hangings using a special tool that is a crochet hook on one end and a tapestry needle on the other. All you need is a locker hook, canvas (latch hook style with 4-holes per inch), wool roving and yarn. Rigby Rag Cutter, Model H - 1/4" head

Cutting fabric strips for hooking has never been so easy. Just clamp the Rigby cutter a table top and feed cloth into the cutter while you turn the crank. Perfect strips every time. Cut three, four or five strips at a time depending on the width of the strips desired. Comes with 1/4" head. Cutter heads also available are – 3⁄32", 1⁄8", 5⁄32", 3⁄16", 7⁄32" , whichever suits your needs. If you prefer the choice to put two different heads on the shaft to eliminate the need to change heads for different strip widths purchase the Model D. Rigby Rag Cutter, Model C with two heads

Clamp a Rigby cutter to a table top and feed cloth into the cutter while turning the crank. You'll get perfect strips every time! The Model C, with two heads on the same shaft can be used for either hooked or braided rug materials. The standard 1/4" multi-cut head (which can be changed to any of the six available sizes) is on one side for cutting narrow strips for hooking. The standard single blade cutter head with guide arm on the other side is for cutting single 1/2-2" strips for braiding and weaving. The most versatile model by far.

Rug Hooking Gripper Strips

Gripper strips are perfect for rug hooking frames which grip the rug backing allowing the pattern to be repositioned in seconds. Strips are 7/8" X 40" long. If you need to cut to size use a utility knife after marking the desired length and removing any wire staples in the cutting line. A large quilter's pin(size 28) works to remove the staples.
Do be careful handling these as the points are sharp!

Safety Back Latex Rug Backing (Saf-T-Bak)

Apply this latex backing to your hooked, punched, knitted or crocheted rug with an old rubber spatula. It cures overnight, adding body, securing the structure and making it skid proof. Saf-T-Bak is sold in 32 oz tubs which will cover about 12 square feet. Try it on bottom of slipper soles. Please note, all latex backings contain rubber which may eventually darken light colored vinyl floors. Be aware of this and use a non-rubber floor mat when necessary. Not recommended for valuable antiques.
