The Extra Wide Ashford drum carder really goes to batt for you making a huge 100 gram (3.5 oz) batt. It has two ratios for even more flexibility and control when carding and blending: Use the 6:1 ratio to prepare your fleece. The controlled intake and carding will produce a smooth even batt ready for blending, spinning or felting.

Use the 4:1 ratio to blend sliver, colors and different fiber types consistently into an open and airy batt. Great for making pre-felts.

The carder retains the adjustable drum clearance - allows you to set the teeth distance for total control of your fiber. All nylon bearings ensure it is light and easy to turn. The card cloth has wire teeth with a special protective coating and a flexible rubber backing for long life. The carder is strong and robust with the body made from silver beech hardwood. The carder has rubber feet to prevent it slipping. Card batts quickly and efficiently. It comes assembled and lacquered ready to use. Awl/doffer, 2 clamps and carding instructions are included. Batt size 22" x 12"- Weight 18 1/2 lbs.

Louët 8" Classic Drum Carder (Fine Cloth 46 tpi)

Louët drum carders come fully assembled and complete with table clamps, doffer pin and doffer brush. The crank mechanism is entirely enclosed to prevent fibers from wrapping around the axle. The carding cloth has extra long, paired teeth that make big thick batts for spinning or felting.

The diameter of the drum is 10" and the width is 7". Compared to the new Standard Drumcarder the cloth has less and higher teeth (46 teeth/sq inch, 5/8" long) and the teeth were designed to intertwine. This makes the Classic Drumcarder more suitable for medium to long fibers. It is the perfect carder if your needs include carding lots of thick batts fast. It is great to card batts for layers for felt making and color blending can be done with success as well. The carder clamps to a table and comes already permanently adjusted for you.

Louët Doffer Brush

A doffer brush is used to clean miscellaneous fibers off the drums of drum carders when starting a new project. A flicker also makes an excellent doffer brush.

Everyone who uses a drum carder needs a doffer pin. A doffer pin is used to separate the batt and peel it off the large drum. Wooden handle. Comes with leather strap to mount on side of drum carder to hold flicker and doffer pin so you always know where they are located.
