Himalayan Giant Nettle Fiber Top description:

A treat for any spinner, this unusual and lustrous fiber is the newest addition to our great selection of fibers. This distinctive fiber is carefully wild harvested in the Himalayan mountains, as it has been for thousands of years. The top is a bast fiber, most similar to hemp or linen. It is very strong and may be spun alone or blended. We love it combined with wool for a little loft and color.

Bamboo Fiber description:

Bamboo is a quick growing plan (as every gardener knows) making for a very renewable resource. The rayonized extruded fiber is soft, strong, naturally cool, very absorbant and antibacterial! Create designer style yarns by blending bamboo fiber with natural or dyed wools. It adds unique sheen, gentle slubs and softness, creating a yarn with a beautiful look and drape.

Staple length 1.6 inches, 13.4 microns.

Bamboo Top description:

To create this fine top bamboo stem pulp is extruded, as are other pulp based fibers like tencel. Bamboo is cool and highly absorbant because the fiber is permeated with small cavities which will hold air and absorb moisture making it cool and comfortable in your yarns. The antimicrobial character is a real plus too. Renewable, sturdy and luxurious to wear.

Bleached Flax Roving description:

Flax top is a combed fiber preparation prepared from flax towthe short fibers (2-4) that remain in the hackles after preparing the line. Flax top is easy to spin and does not require a distaff. Linen yarn spun from flax top is great to use as a weft in weaving or for knitting. The inherent luster of the linen yarn is due to the wax content of the flax fibers. Wet spinning will create a smoother, stronger yarn. Flax top is available in natural and bleached white.

Hemp Sliver description:

Talk about a miracle, renewable crop.... Hemps so sturdy its practically a weed.

Hemp top is similar to flax (linen) but finer. Spin these long fibers as you would linen or other long staple materials. It is a natural golden color and it is extremely durable.

A piece of hemp fabric dating back to about 8,000 B.C. is one of the oldest human relics ever discovered. The fiber is longer, stronger, and provides more insulation than cotton or flax.

Dyes nicely with Fiber Reactive dyes for cellulose fibers.

This amazing, renewable, recyclable, cutting edge fiber is made from soy beans. Actually from the waste of tofu manufacturing. It looks like tussah silk and is a dream to spin... but far less expensive. Dye with Acid dyes.
