Great Adirondack Handpainted Organic Cotton – New yarn!
This wonderful new cotton yarn from Great Adirondack Yarn Co is making us (almost) as happy as the flowers and sunshine!
Beautifully soft 100% organic cotton hand-dyed in vibrant hues. Perfect to knit or crochet. The even 2-ply twist makes it excellent for weavers as well. Dyed by hand in the USA.
Great Adirondack Organic DK Cotton is available in 10 kaleidoscopic colors!
Rich variegated colors and ample yardage make this a great yarn for shawls and scarves. It’s also lovely for a colorful summer shell or poncho.
Yarn: 100% organic cotton. 315 yards/10g skein.
Gauge: 5.5 stitches per inch on US size 5-6 knitting needles. Weaving sett: 6-7 epi tabby, 7-8 epi twill.
Fabric Care:
While cotton can generally be machine washed and dried we recommend doing so only with great care in order to prevent bleeding of the vibrant hand-painted hues. Use only cold water and low/no heat or hang dry.
Better yet – handwash cool and hang or lay flat to dry.
Whether hand or machine washing the dyer recommends using only a small amount of mild castile soap (like Dr. Bronner’s) rather than detergent or a no-rinse delicate wash such as soak or eucalan as these can cause the colors to bleed.
I would love to see this product in softer, muted shades also.
Thanks for the feedback! We will likely bring in more colors in this line and as we do I’ll make sure this is part f our planning. There is one lighter neutral (Irish Cream) that’s lovely and we’ll keep an eye out for more!
