We will also be hosting a trunk show all month featuring samples from Knitting Outside the Box. Stop by and see these beautiful pieces in person!

By the way, Bristol is just as lovely as her designs – which is to say, the very loveliest!!

Drawing on what inspires her most, Bristol shares the possibilities that she finds inherent in knit fabric. Utilizing exercises she uses in her life as a designer, she encourages knitters to make their own rules and push their creativity, by asking “what if?”

Holiday Make & Take!

Dress up your holidays with handmade touches! Staff will be on hand to guide you through a variety of free fiber crafts from pom pom making, to needle felting, to “yarn painting.” Our community indigo vat will be back by popular demand too—buy or bring your own items to turn blue!

All ages are welcome and Halcyon Yarn is ADA accessible.

Latvian Mitten Exhibit

Saturday will also launch a very special display of traditional Latvian mittens. Forty-five pairs of hand knitted mittens featuring traditional Latvian designs, with samples representing all five historical regions.

Many of these intricate pieces are over fifty years old and each tells its own story. Latvian mittens are beautiful examples of colorwork and distinctive knitting and finishing techniques. Latvian mittens are a living example of craft as narrative. The beautiful designs are symbolic of mythological and cultural themes and no two pairs, or stories, are alike. Large collections of mittens were traditionally knitted and given to mark life’s milestones, especially as part of marriage rituals. Enjoy an up-close look at these rare examples of incredible folk art.

This exhibit is currently traveling the country and we’re very pleased to share it with you. These wonderful works of knitted art will be on display through the end of the year. Don’t miss this unique exhibit!

See you on Saturday, December 15th!
