174-kibou-blog-3

Ah, the calendar says spring has arrived, but here at Halcyon Yarn, like many other places across the country, we’re longing for the visual evidence. Color, we want color, green grass, beautiful flowers… Well, if mother nature won’t cooperate, at least we have our fiber. Right? How many times have you sought solace in a magnificent skein of yarn bursting with inspirational color?

It’s with these thoughts in mind that we find the recent arrival of [Sorry, item discontinued or temporarily out of stock] , with its infusion of color, particularly welcome. Kibou means “hope” in Japanese, and it’s colors are filling us with hope! Every inch of this magnificent yarn is bursting with color. Go ahead, take a close look. You’ll be in awe of the kaleidoscope of dynamic colors.

Cotton (54%), silk (34%) and wool (12%) in a multitude of colors are lightly blended before being softly spun into a thick and thin singles dk weight yarn, resulting in a unique self striping yarn with harmonious color shifts. It knits into a sumptuous, soft fabric. Perfect for spring and summer knits. Kibou has a confetti like quality that continually draws you in as you try to determine all the colors at play in each skein. It’s mesmerizing. But don’t just take our word on it. Kibou is on Ravelry’s top 10 list of new yarns.

Here at the shop, Beth has started knitting the Top Down Drape Front Cardi by Pure and Simple and we’re all loving the results. Show and share at a yarn shop is always a treat. Can’t wait to see it finished. We’ve taken close up photos of the skein, the yarn knit in stockinette and knit in a textured seed stitch so you can compare.
