Ojo de Dios – Knitting that WOWS!

gwynn-gina-triangle-shawl

Everything is coming up Plymouth these days. Plymouth Yarn that is. After noticing that we were selling an inordinate amount of the Plymouth Gina color 005, I set out to investigate. I discovered a pattern in the issue of [Sorry, item discontinued or temporarily out of stock]  called the Ojo de Dios Shawl. Wow!! I don’t know what to exclaim about first – the color-play or the construction. It doesn’t really matter what your opinion is on bright self-striping yarns or shawls and shawl wearing. The Ojo de Dios BEGS to be looked at and explored. Even stared at. The imaginative construction pulls in the eye as your brain is trying to make sense of the puzzle: One triangle at a time is knit to form the lower border. The picture above is of mine using Plymouth Gina color 009  in progress. The pictures below are from the magazine. (Don’t be afraid to branch out – all of the Gina colors are lovely!)

This method is a perfect outlet to use wonderful self-striping yarn in all of it’s glory. Each triangle is markedly different but still connected to the whole. Shown above being blocked on Knitter's Block Kit by Coco Knits.

I have always been a “Noro Only” knitter but I have to confess that [Sorry, item discontinued or temporarily out of stock] is a wonderful surprise. The colors are clear and well-blended and the hand is very soft. You will find it more than affordable and this shawl only takes 6 balls!

Of course if you are hooked on Noro, Noro Silk Garden Yarn would make a deluxe and luxurious option. So go ahead, choose your color and get started!
