What does making something by hand mean to you…? For many of us the act of making something is closely connected to the person who taught us our craft.
In partnership with Interweave Press we recently shared our “Raised By A Maker” story on Instagram, Facebook, and our website. We invite you to learn a little more about our history and to share your own! For a limited time we’re also offering a free pattern collection featuring some of our favorite introductory projects to weave, knit, spin, and crochet. We’re here to help you get a new maker underway in the crafts we love!
When we make things by hand we add chapters to the story of how we learned and hopefully who we teach. Besides making something beautiful, the act of making connects us back across generations to those who taught our teachers these enduring skills, as well as to those who will carry them on.
Several of you have reached out on social media, email, and a few have even called one lovely woman sent in an old news item about the shop in Denver. We’ve loved having visitors in the the shop sharing your stories of learning from loved ones – and from Halcyon Yarn over the years. More than anything else we do, this sense of community is the thing we are most proud of as a small business and as a family – thank you!
