Red Scarf Project

red-scarf-project-2015

Want to knit or crochet for a good cause? Please join Halcyon Yarn in supporting the Red Scarf Project and the Frannie Peabody Center in Portland.

The project goal is to have over 500 red scarves ready to go by November 15th in preparation for a World AIDS Day awareness event. The scarves will be distributed around different locations in Maine in an effort to educate the public on the significance of HIV/AIDS and the need for community involvement in promoting understanding, and bringing an end to stigma.

We have Yarn!! Our generous friends at Saco River Dye House have donated “Frannie Red” yarn specifically for this project. You can pick up the beautiful 100% wool yarn right here at Halcyon Yarn – just ask at the counter.

Guidelines: Please knit or crochet a scarf measuring 6” x 60”

  • Please drop off completed scarves at the following locations:
  • Portland: Frannie Peabody Center prevention office – 1 Spring St., Portland
  • Ogunquit: Ogunquit Chamber of Commerce – 36 Main St., Ogunquit
  • Bath: Halcyon Yarn – 12 School St., Bath
