Statement of Solidarity

Black Lives Matter.

“In a racist society, it is not enough to be non-racist, we must be anti-racist.”
– Dr. Angela Davis

Halcyon Yarn stands in solidarity with those protesting racism and inequity, and with the courageous people whose work moves us towards a truly equal and inclusive society. This extraordinary moment asks all of us to acknowledge where we stand on issues of racial and social justice and it challenges us to create a better world. We make this statement because we believe silence is complicity in the face of injustice. Visibility matters and the time to stand and be counted is overdue.

I feel heartbreak and rage at the racism and violence in this country and throughout the world, but it is not my or my company’s feelings that most need to be heard, more important voices need to be amplified. We commit to listening to and making space for those voices and actions. We commit to continuing to educate ourselves, and to acting in accordance with our values. We commit to supporting and participating in the process of lasting and meaningful systemic change.

Consistent antiracist actions matter more than anything we can say at this moment. Antiracism must be a daily practice for every person of conscience. We commit to that practice.

From now through June 19th Halcyon Yarn is donating a portion of all sales to these organizations:

We are in total agreement and very pleased by Halcyon’s commitment. We need to renew the concept of good corporate citizenship. And, obviously we need for everyone to open their hearts and minds so we can reconceptualize institutions toward a just society.

This is absolutely FANTASTIC ! For the life of me, I do not understand racism. Nobody wants a box of 64 white crayons—and they’re just crayons. This notion is extrapolated exponentially when dealing with people! I think artists seem to readily grasp this concept and have a responsibility to demonstrate that everything is better with color, texture, pattern, flavor, spice, diversity and inclusion. We get the best of the best collectively in society when everyone participates and is championed and cherished.

Thank you for your voice and leadership!

    Thank you.

Thank you for your principled stand!

    AMEN!
