What’s new in magazines?

Hello, fellow fiber artists! This is the time of year when we all start to get the first rustlings of “how far ’til spring?”; we’ve got a long way to go still, but fortunately there’s plenty of fun stuff to keep us occupied in the meantime. Here’s a list of some new issues of your favorite magazines, and a few highlights from each to get you inspired to make stuff, learn stuff, and just plain gawk at the beautiful things people are able to create.

For all you weavers out there, we’ve got a new issue of [Sorry, item discontinued or temporarily out of stock] .  In addition to a handful of fascinating articles, this issue includes instructions for a whole bunch of wearable accessories, as well as a few other beautifully thought out pieces. Most of the projects are for a 4-shaft loom, with a few 8-shaft projects and a lovely, simple bag that can be made on a 10″ rigid heddle.

Then there’s the newest [Sorry, item discontinued or temporarily out of stock] . Always beautiful and informative, this issue has a segment on upcycling, which is a mindset that is near and dear to my heart.  Between trash and rags, fishing nets and patchwork, this amazing magazine will make you look at that recycle bin a little differently.

The most recent issue of [Sorry, item discontinued or temporarily out of stock] is a veritable showcase of some of the most amazing things handspinners and weavers are making, and have made throughout history. Take a gander at their exhibition reviews for some pieces that will leave you wondering, how on Earth did they make that?

In the most recent issue of [Sorry, item discontinued or temporarily out of stock] , you can find a collection of designs that would fit right in at the workplace – tailored, textured, and ready for business. In this issue you’ll also find the first hints of spring knitting, in bright colors and airy stitch patterns perfectly suited for those still-chilly days.

Keeping with the knitting stuff for a moment, there’s also a new issue of [Sorry, item discontinued or temporarily out of stock] with quite an eye-catching cover project. This issue is all about creative takes on the fancy stuff (well, I think of it as fancy)- cables, colorwork, and even brioche. There’s a particularly cool collection of sweaters done in black and white yarns, with features varying from gradients to starkly contrasting herringbone colorwork.

And we can’t forget about the spinners! There’s a new [Sorry, item discontinued or temporarily out of stock] , and the alpaca on the cover is enough to get me to want to flip through. With plenty of articles in here for spinners of all levels, this is a great magazine for everyone.

Last but not least, there’s a new issue of my own favorite magazine, [Sorry, item discontinued or temporarily out of stock] . Every time a new issue is due, I’m excited to see what beautiful cover they’ve chosen and what new skills I will learn. This issue is all about plying. You’ll learn that there’s a right and wrong way to do it, but (and this is the part I love) you’ll also be let in on some secrets that you wouldn’t expect.

So there you have it! Winter may still have its grip on us, but with so much to see and learn I think I’m ok with cozying up with a good read for just a little longer…

Hi Gale, Thanks for asking about Noro Spring. We don’t have a publication date yet, but will feature it here in the newsletter as soon as it arrives so you can get it as soon as it is available. Something colorful to look forward to!
