Woolen and Worsted
Instructor: Linda Clutterbuck. Meets on: Saturday March 3rd, 2018, 10:00 am - 1:00 pm.
Do you understand the basics of spinning? Are you ready for the next step? Do you know the difference between woolen and worsted spinning? Semi-woolen and semi-worsted? Roving and top? Twist and grist? Balanced and unbalanced skeins? This workshop will cover all these topics so you will be able to advance your spinning skills and spin the yarn you want.
Materials: Students should be familiar with the basics of spinning and should bring a spinning wheel in good working order, extra bobbins, foam core for bobbins (optional), a lazy kate, and ball winder (optional). Handouts and fiber are included in the class fee.
Linda has plenty of teaching experience having been a certified teacher of Secondary level English for over 40 years. She is involved with several Spinning organizations: Ontario Handweavers and Spinners 2005-present, Northeast Handspinners Association (NHA) 2008 - present,Maine Spinners' Registry 2003-present, and Maine FiberArts 2011-present. She has attended several workshops led by nationally known spinners/fiber artists such as Jacey Boggs, Robin Russo, and Rudy Amann to name a few.
