What is it and what is it for?
- Use it to find equivalent yarns for example: "I love this worsted weight blue, but want something similar in bulky"
- Use it to find complimetary / contrasty colored yarns
- Use it for fun, not for accuracy :-) please use sample cards if you need highly accurate color representation
How to use it?
Show only specific weight yarn matches
- click "uncheck all" in the weights section ("A")
- then click, for example, "Bulky"
- then clik "Update Matches" ("B")
Show only certain fibers
- click "uncheck all" in the fibers section ("C")
- click / check the fibers you want
- click "Update Matches" ("B")
Show different color matching styles
- Select different matching schemes to see different results ("D")
- "Contrasty" matches are selected using the split-compliments of the original color
- "Variety" matches are selected using tetradic matches from the color wheel
- "Similar" matches are selected using analogous matches from the color wheel
- Click number of results to choose how many matching yarns are shown in each column
Using the "Color Mixer"
- Drag colors from the "Yarn Matches" columns ("F") into the white part of the Color Mixer ("G")
- Once a color is added to the color mixer, you can still drag it around
- Add as many colors as you like - drag them around to see what works well together
- Colors that don't "work" can be removed by clicking on the "trash can" icon that appears when you hover over that color square ("G")
- Other icons that appear when you hover over a color can link you to that yarn's page, and add that color of yarn to your shopping cart
When you're done...
- Share your color selections! ("E", top image)
- Order sample cards
- Have fun knitting, weaving, crocheting...
