Swans Island Organic Merino Ecowash Sport Fine Yarn description:
You’ll love the subtle shading variations and exquisite softness, plus the stitch definition is fantastic. Organic, super soft, gorgeous colors, great stitch definition... Could there be more to love? Why yes!
Swans Island EcoWash treatment produces washable wool in a more gentle process than tradition Superwash treatments. Instead of using chlorine to strip the wool scales and prevent felting, or a palstic/resin coating, organic EcoWash leaves the scales on the fiber and instead treats it with a more mild enzyme formula which enhances the wool fibers and prevents the fibers from felting as easily. Simply a better process for everyone and everything.
So when it comes to getting the very best for your baby, look no further than Swans Island Organic EcoWash Sport. But don’t just think babies for this lovely yarn. It’s ideal for any pattern calling for a sport weight wool. Each 100 gm skein has 360 yds with an average gauge of 6.75 sts/in on US size 3 needle. Currently available in soft palette of colors, with deeper, rich colors arriving later this year.
Swans Island washable wool is a 100% certified organic merino wool gently treated with organic EcoWash®, which enhances the wool fibers to prevent felting. The EcoWash® process leaves the wool scales intact and gently coats them with an organically certified compound. The resulting yarn is great to handle, soft to wear and machine washable. Because the yarn is skein-dyed in small lots, we suggest purchasing enough skeins to complete your project, as dye lots may vary.
Care: Machine wash cool, delicate cycle with like colors, or handwash. Not quite as non-felting as a traditional superwash - we do recommend a very gentle cycle with other delicates only if you do machine wash, and a very mild no-rinse detergent is preferred. Lay flat to dry.
