The needles are made of smooth, hard birch with a beautiful grey "driftwood" finish that varies with the wood grain and the tips are long and slender. The black metal endcaps have the sizes etched into them, not printed, and the join to the cables is smooth and flexible.
The interchangeable set includes sizes US 4 - US 17 and comes in a sturdy fold-up case with elastic closure. The large pocket contains 5 cords (two 24", two 32", one 40"), 4 keys, 2 cord connectors and 4 stoppers.
