Description

Halcyon Yarn's sturdy cardboard spools will last for years. Measuring 4" between the flanges and 3" in diameter, they will fit all current standard spool racks. The arbor opening is 3/8" so winding them requires either a double ended bobbin winder or adapting a single ended winder with a wooden dowel, rubberband, o-ring, or tape-wrapping.

Traditionally used by weavers, knitters may enjoy winding finer yarns onto spools instead of into balls for incredible easy yarn management right down to the last yard! No more tangles, trying to find the end of your ball, getting wrinkled, or picking up lint. Note that winding onto spools under tension can stretch your knitting yarns a bit and this can effect gauge so be sure to swatch and adjust accordingly. We suggest not winding onto spools until you are ready to knit so they don't 'sit' stretched for too long.

If winding on a double-ended bobbin winder we recommend using a rubber hose washer on each 'cone' of the winder to help to combat metal friction and slippage.
