Soft and cheerful, Ashford's Caterpillar Cotton is a variegated 100% unmercerized cotton with a slightly crimpy texture. Great for machine washable woven placemats and kitchen towels, as well as scarves or baby blankets.

Description

The unmercerized finish makes this yarn very absorbent. An exceptionally soft feel next to the skin makes it ideal for baby items. Wonderful for weavers, and conveniently put up on cones, Caterpillar Cotton is also a lovely cotton for knitting or crochet at a sport-weight gauge.

The spiral plied texture gives extra body and just a slight elasticity without the density sometimes found in cotton. Bright variegated colorways are great on their own or combined with solid colors.

Weavers will find that a looser sett allows the yarn to full when washed. If washing and drying in the machine at warmer temperatures plan your project to allow for some shrinkage.

Machine wash and dry, warm to hot. In highly contrasting colors always test for colorfastness.
