Halcyon Yarn's Signature Victorian Brushed Mohair yarn sets the standard for brushed mohair yarns. Victorian Mohair is light enough to lend a truly airy feeling yet warm and substantial to accommodate a variety of uses. Wonderful for any worsted to bulky weight pattern when warmth without weight and a distinct fluffy halo are what you want. The luxurious and light mohair is blended with just enough wool and nylon to give it strength without weighing it down. From sweaters to blankets or just a little accent mohair makes a statement as a classic favorite natural fiber. The lush Victorian color palette perfectly emphasizes the ethereal natural beauty of mohair.
Halcyon's Signature Victorian Collection yarns are custom spun exclusively for Halcyon Yarn and dyed in the USA. You'll find that each of these yarns is gorgeous and economical on it's own or combined with other yarns. The Victorian yarns offer a broad and interchangeable color palette so they coordinate beautifully with each other. Our Victorian yarns couldn't be prettier or easier to work with!
Weavers, alternate Victorian 2-Ply warp or tabby weft with Victorian Bouclé or Victorian Brushed Mohair for pattern in overshot or summer and winter. Knitters and crocheters will love double-stranding any two Victorian styles together on size 10.5 knitting needles (size K or larger crochet hook) at 3 stitches per inch for a personalized “designer” bulky yarn.
Care: Hand wash in cool water and lay flat to dry, or dry clean. Mothproofed.
Weaving Yarn tip:
While strong enough for warp, we suggest warping Victorian Brushed Mohair alternately with a smooth yarn to reduce the natural tendency for brushed yarns to stick together - this will make both warping and weaving easier. Also consider weaving twills rather than tabby to minimize the stickiness of the yarn and give the finished fabric more body. When using brushed yarns in the weft, try ski shuttles; the yarn's fuzziness can cause bobbins to snag.
Knitting Yarn tip:
Substitute Victorian Mohair in a worsted to bulky weight pattern when warmth and fluff are what you want. Couldn't be prettier or easier. Double-strand any two Victorian styles together or with another worsted weight yarn on size 10 or 10.5 knitting needles at 3 stitches per inch for a lovely designer bulky yarn.
