Using Addi FlexiFlips: Video tutorial and FREE pattern!

Using just three needles, these FlexiFlips cut back on extra baggage while still allowing you to work even the smallest circumferences with ease. To demonstrate how these needles work, I made a short video of myself knitting a newborn sized hat – entirely on a set of Addi FlexiFlips. .

If you like the hat I’m knitting in this video, you can make it too! You’ll find the pattern below. This hat is an adaptation of our Baby's First Hat - Fingering Weight. The original pattern is written for fingering weight yarn in a variety of baby sizes, but I upped it to size US 5 needles and DK weight yarn. Sized to fit a newborn (about a 12″ circumference). For the stripes, I simply alternated colors every two rows. My gauge was approximately 5 sts to 1″.

Baby's First Hat - Fingering Weight

Materials:
• Addi FlexiFlips 8" Circular Needles, Size US 5/Metric 3.75 or US 5 double pointed or long circular needle
• DK weight yarn – I used about 1/2 ball of Jo Sharp Soho Summer DK Cotton Yarn and about 1/4 skein of Malabrigo Rios Superwash Merino Wool Yarn
• Tapestry needle

Hat
Cast on 60 stitches. Join to work in the round, being careful not to twist stitches.
Work in Stockinette stitch until piece measures 4″ from cast on edge (unrolled).

Decrease as follows:
Round 1: (K8, k2tog); repeat to end.
Even rounds 2-16: Knit.
Round 3: (K7, k2tog); repeat to end.
Round 5: (K6, k2tog); repeat to end.
Round 7: (K5, k2tog); repeat to end.
Round 9: (K4, k2tog); repeat to end.
Round 11: (K3, k2tog); repeat to end.
Round 13: (K2, k2tog); repeat to end.
Round 15: (K1, k2tog); repeat to end.
Rounds 17 & 18: (K2tog); repeat to end.

Break yarn, leaving a 6″ or longer tail. Thread this tail through a tapestry needle and pull it through remaining stitches. Pull tight and secure. Weave in ends.
