                    Description
The combination of cotton and linen fibers is ideal for high quality kitchen towels and napkins, however it also works beautifully for yardage to use in upholstery or garments and openwork shawls. Linen gives a little more body and durability than cotton will have on its own, while cotton keeps it supple, affordable and easy to work with. 8/2 Cottolin will also work in combination with 8/2 Cotton Boucle or 8/2 Cotton without having to adapt your sett. Our favorite for twill towels!
Cottolin fabrics can be machine washed and dried, but do plan for 10%-15% shrinkage if you do so. Lay flat and smooth while stills lightly damp to avoid creases.
Cottolin is fairly colorfast, but if you will be using high contrast colors next to each other we advise sampling first and being careful not to leave them sitting wet for long as this will encourage bleeding.
If you're looking for a project, try our exclusive Cottolin Tea Towel Kit. Using 4 Colors of Cottolin to make 8 tea towels measuring 17-18” x 28-30” each. These towels are strong, colorfast and easy to weave using a four thread herringbone on a four shaft loom with a 20” weaving width.
Knitters hint: the linen keeps lace stitches open and shapely. If you ever felt the urge to create lace panels for light filtering... here's the yarn to use!
Note: sometimes Cottolin is spelled Cotolin, but in each case this refers to a cotton linen blend.
