                    Description
Classic Icelandic yoked sweaters as well as Fair Isle or contemporary colorwork knitting all look stunning and stand the test of time in Icelandic Léttlopi. It’s a lighter weight version of the ever popular bulky weight Álafosslopi.
Ideal for warm and resilient pieces without too much weight. This softly spun 100% Icelandic wool singles offers the unique quality of Icelandic fiber - combining the fine, highly insulating inner fibers and longer, water-repellent outer fibers. Icelandic wool yarns are known for being warm, breathable and for their water-repellency.
Knitters:
Traditionally knit “in-the-round”, Icelandic pullovers and cardigans are fast and rewarding projects. The beautiful colorwork is timeless and with hundreds of classic designs, what’s old is new again. Leftovers are great for making hats and mittens. Great for felting - for extra warmth knit your piece oversized and then try felting in hot water to create extremely durable garments and accessories.
Weavers:
Léttlopi is very suitable for weft but not ideal in warp since it is so loosely spun. It makes a great weft for warm and durable blankets and throws, blankets, jackets and shawls, as well as wall hangings.
Try weaving 1-3 tabby shots between Léttlopi wefts to create a firm backing. This is a great way to combine texture with color and weave effects.
Care:
Hand wash with cool water and a gentle wool wash. Block/lay flat to dry. Or dry clean.
