Newport 16/2 Linen Yarn

Halcyon Yarn's Signature Newport Linen is an outstandingly high quality 2-ply 100% linen yarn. Newport Linen is a perfect balance of earthy and enduring, yet refined and modern; everything a linen should be. Halcyon's Newport Linen is a classic and versatile weaving yarn. Linen yarn is a durable yarn which softens beautifully with wear and washing, its very strong and also surprisingly absorbent for use in towels or other household linens. The long flax fibers create a satiny-smooth finish with a subtle glow. The Newport Linen flax line is spun dry rather than wet to retain more of the natural look of linen.

This versatile fiber is equally perfect for heirlooms and contemporary textile designs. In knitting, however the crisp texture can lend body and interest when used in combination with other yarns or it makes a beautiful shawl or accessory yarn for really showing off lace work. Newport Linen is an excellent choice for woven drapery, table linens, and yardage for clothing or upholstery.

Newport Linen is available in more economical pound cones or in convenient 300 yard (2 oz) mini cones.

Please note that, as with any natural material, the exact yards per pound may vary from batch to batch and the processing required to bleach and dye the yarn may have a slight impact on the total yards per pound. Our mini cones are always wound to exact yardage, however pound quantities may have slightly varying yardage. Questions? Newport Linen Fiber Care:

As always, we strongly recommend sampling before you start your project to ensure colorfastness especially when using darker or contrasting colors, and to determine sett or gauge. It is not uncommon for excess dye to be present in strong colors. If using strong colors or if bleeding between contrasting colors is likely to occur, loosely skein the yarn, wash until the water runs clear, and let it hang dry. We also recommend a white vinegar rinse to help remove excess dye if necessary.

Wash finished pieces gently in cold water by hand or machine using mild detergent. Can be tumbled dry, pressing damp will help linen maintain a crisp and elegant finish.
