Favorite Alpine Toppers Combinations
Brrr… it’s cold outside. Are you one of the many people braving the bitter cold that is sweeping much of the country? If so, it’s topper time! Our warmest hat pattern (and we might add the most fun to knit), the Alpine Topper hat pattern for bulky and super bulky yarns , continues to be our most popular. It knits up so quick. All you need is just one night. |

Some of us are addicted to making Alpine Toppers. It is crazy fun to pair the colors in a bulky self striping yarn with a solid super bulky yarn for the lining. With the availability of new yarns and new colors, each year presents a whole new potential for combinations. It’s like being a kid in a candy shop.

This year we’ve discovered our favorite thus far. Noro Nadeshiko - Angora, Wool and Silk Yarn for the main color and Plymouth DeAire Merino Yarn for the lining. It’s so soft, it’s dreamy. Perhaps you might relate to Gwynn’s description the first time she felt an Alpine Topper made with this combination, “Get out of here. It’s disgustingly soft.” She has since knit 6 Alpine Toppers with this combination (a true addict) and now lovingly refers to them as her bunny toppers. Are you enticed? You won’t be disappointed. |

These are such nice hats. It would be nice to knit them up for family members who live in colder area’s of the country than I do.
