New Pattern! All Down The Line – rug wool jacket

You can’t get much more rugged than rug wool! Our Halcyon Yarn Rug Wool is one of the hardest working yarns out there, with three sturdy plies of 100% New Zealand wool. This super bulky yarn is spun in a Canadian mill that has been run by the same family for generations. Now that our own family business has been passed down to the next generation, we’re proud to show off the yarn that started it all over 45 years ago. My All Down the Line - Rug Wool Knitted Jacket Pattern is not just an awesome jacket (if I do say so), but it’s also a nod to creating things that last.

The simple stockinette body is edged with wide garter stitch borders. I dreamed this project up with toggles in my tunnel vision, but you could easily swap toggles for snaps – or get creative and add buttonholes, a zipper, or whatever closure you like!  But you will definitely want two 1″ buttons, as the sleeves feature a cute button flap cuff. While we’re on the subject of being creative, Halcyon Yarn Rug Wool comes in over 90 colors. 90 of them! I can picture this jacket in countless color combinations.

Lastly, let’s talk about sizing. The All Down the Line - Rug Wool Knitted Jacket Pattern is written for sizes XXS through 4XL. Designed to be worn with 8″ of positive ease, that means you should choose the size that is closest to 8″ larger than your own bust circumference. These extra inches allow room for a sweater or other layers underneath. The knitted fabric will loosen up quite a bit after blocking, but in a good way. Although a decidedly dense fabric, the All Down The Line jacket still offers a surprising amount of drape and movement, and wearing it feels as though someone has wrapped a woolly woven blanket around your shoulders. How fitting!
