“
I am the organizer and director of Wounded Warrior Quilt Project in Estero, FL, during the winters.
35 ladies and I made and sent 150 hospital bed sized quilts to the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center at the Ramstein AF Base in Germany this season.
We tie the quilts. The tying ladies tried yarn: too hard to pull thru because of the large needles required for the yarn.
They tried embroidery floss: nope. too skinny, requiring double or triple knots using all 6 plies.
Crochet cotton: no good, too skinny.
Someone gave us part of a spool of your size 2-3 pearl cotton.
VOILA!!! It was
perfect for tying knots in our quilts! The tying ladies were overjoyed but we used it all, leading me to the internet where I found Halcyon Yarns and ordered "soldier blue." It makes nice tight knots and is easy to thread and pull through the three layers of our quilts.
THANK YOU for helping us in our mission to send comfort and love in every stitch to our wounded warriors in that hospital.
