Cascade Highland Duo has Arrived
Last year we fell in love with Cascade Eco Duo, Baby Alpaca and Merino Yarn, a wonderful blend of 70% baby alpaca and 30% merino. This natural colored, marled yarn with a roving style twist, is heavenly soft. It’s a dream to work with and to wear. It’s wonderful for absolutely anything worn next to your skin. Although the subtle blends of natural colors are beautiful we couldn’t help longing for this same fiber blend in colors.
Rejoice! Imagine our excitement when we heard Cascade was offering 16/5 Linen Rug Lacing - Black Yarn, the same great yarn as Eco Duo, just in luscious dyed colors. We’ve been eagerly anticipating it’s arrival all summer long and it’s finally here. Better yet, Cascade offers a free 1 skein cowl pattern, the Cell Stitch Cowl, that is just gorgeous. It’s a perfect project to try this new yarn.
Never fear if you’re not a cowl girl. Highland Duo is a worsted weight yarn that knits at an average gauge of 4.5 sts per inch on a sz 8 needle. You’ll find lots of patterns in which this yarn can be knit. Check out Cascade’s other free patterns for Eco Duo and Highland Duo. The only trouble might be deciding upon a color.
Weavers, don’t miss out on Duo Highland. Its soft twist makes it tricky to use in anything but weft, but with a finer warp and tabby it could become a favorite for scarves and vest fabrics. Try JaggerSpun Maine Line 2/8 Yarn or [Sorry, item discontinued or temporarily out of stock] for the warp.
