Not all tweeds are created equal!
Soft and strong.
Sturdy plied construction (plus a touch of silk) affords durability without pilling even in heavier sweaters. This yarn is much softer than most tweeds, definitely soft enough to wear in accessories or cozy cowled sweaters next to your face, or in items for kids or others with sensitive skin.
High quality natural fibers.
Enjoy extra warmth and strength without extra weight, plus yars of looking good. The wool base is blended with silk and cashmere which provides extra thermal regulation and strength as well as added dimension in the color.
Make sure your nepps match!
Softly heathered color blends and carefully coordinated “flecks” give just the right tweedy highlights. Pet peeve alert: Tweeds that don’t thoughtfully color coordinate their nepps result in cheap looking color contrasts or yarns that shed their flecks as you work with them! These tweeds are properly blended during the spinning so they offer texture and depth without shedding or looking shaggy after just a few wears. Each Silkroad Tweed color coordinates the base color carefully with the color of the nepps for proper tweed colors and an elegant fabric.
Silkroad Tweeds offer colors that are both timeless and modern, for any age or gender. From juicy bright hues to rich neutrals there’s something to suit everyone. We love seeing modern silhouettes (like the Garter Stitch Jacket) done in a classic yarn. Great for colorwork too, the 50g put up allows for striped or Fair Isle styles or playful accessories. We think a colorful yoke or color blocked style looks especially fresh in tweeds!
Jo Sharp’s signature balance of classic yet contemporary style makes each of her designs a pleasure to knit and a treat to wear for years to come.
