“Sugar and spice and everything nice…” and we’re not talking sweets. We’re referring to Cotton Boucle Yarn, a unique novelty yarn that adds instant pizzaz to all your fiber projects. Spice is multi-color yarn with short, delicate, feathery eyelashes closely spaced at regular intervals. The nylon feathery “flags” of fiber are very soft. Whether knit, crocheted, woven or felted (I often use it in my nuno felt scarves and wraps), you’ll love the look Spice creates in your scarves and shawls. Consider knitting multiple strands of the same color together for a fiesta of color.
Using the Silky Honeycomb Scarf as her inspiration, Kate knit up a sensational scarf that is the perfect spring and summer accent. She calls it “Spice World Scarf”. For anyone who’s inspired, here’s what she did and a few color combinations she recommends. Materials: 1 ball Spice and 1 mini cone 3/2 Pearl Cotton, size 13 knitting needles. Directions: With one strand of each yarn held together, loosely cast on 12 stitches. Row 1: Knit 1 *yo, k2tog* until one stitch remains, knit 1. Repeat this row until the scarf is your desired length. Bind off loosely. To add fringe, cut 18 strands, 12″ long of each yarn and knot through end stitches at evenly spaced intervals.
