TODAY! Join Hector Jaeger for an artist talk Thursday, July 11th, at Markings Gallery on Front St. in Bath, Maine. His hand-dyed, handwoven wool and linen rugs will be on display. He’ll be discussing his process and techniques as well as answering questions and sharing a great discussion. Hope to see you there!

Hector is a co-founder of Halcyon Yarn. He has taught weaving, had projects published by Interweave Press, and now works from his studio in Bath designing and weaving distinctive flat weave rugs in astonishing colors.

Barbara Burns August Tapestry Workshop

Join us for a new intermediate tapestry workshop with Barbara Burns:

3 Dimensional Tapestry Techniques, A Pulled Warp Workshop
(Formerly Mini Corsets: A New Twist On Tight Lacing)

August 24th & 25th (Saturday & Sunday) • $275

3 Dimensional Tapestry Techniques with Barbara Burns

In this intermediate level two day workshop students will weave a design supplied by the instructor, created specifically for learning techniques for creating a three dimensional tapestries. During the two teaching days Barbara will take students through the process of design for 3 dimensional pieces and teach the techniques to create a shaped tapestry including pulled warp techniques.

Barbara Burns is well known for her woven burlesque images and portraiture and also more recently for the development of 3 dimensional art tapestry garments. Studio activities will be supported by a presentation by Barbara of her experiences with designing and weaving corsets.

** This is not a beginning class. Students need to be familiar with basic tapestry techniques and know how to warp their tapestry loom. Students will be expected to arrive with a pre-warped loom and suggested weft based on instructions provided when you register. Please contact us with questions or register here!

Maine Yarn Cruise Summer 2019

It’s been a lot of fun welcoming all the new and returning Maine Yarn Cruise folks – thanks for visiting! If you’re not already on the “cruise” there’s still plenty of time and you can pick up your passport and goody bag here at Halcyon Yarn or at any of the 21 participating locations.

Maine Fiberarts, located in Topsham, just a few minutes drive from Halcyon Yarn. Their charming gallery and studio feature works by Maine fiber artists. Their website is also a great resource with details about studios, farms and other fiber-related destinations throughout Maine.

LOOM, a show celebrating the work of Luke MacFadyen and Delaney Bullock. On display at the Merrymeeting Arts Center in Bowdoinham, through August 5th.
