Mannequin in Noro Tennen
Your new favorite sweater is ready to knit!
Noro’s famous blending and variegation are still front and center in the tonal Noro Tennen Yarn. This muted beauty is the star of the show in the new Mannequin Pullover Sweater Pattern. Inspired by my Sweet Jane Tank Pattern, I decided to use this unique single ply worsted weight yarn to create a sweater with the same wearable characteristics. Knit seamlessly in the round, this sweater finishes in a flash. The flattering shape is created by simple bias panels; these bias panels continue from the bottom up to help shape the raglan inspired yoke as well as the neck. We can also thank those bias panels for adding a modern shape to the otherwise simple garter stitch hemline.

Yardage: 3 (4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 6, 6, 7) skeins Noro Tennen Yarn or 825 (1100, 1100, 1100, 1375, 1375, 1650, 1650, 1925) yards worsted weight yarn.
Noro Tennen Yarn is a little different than the rest of the usually colorful Noro family. This more subtle yarn is a soft blend of 50% wool, 25% silk and 25% alpaca in the slightly thick and thin single ply we all know and love. It isn’t Noro’s typical colorfully variegated yarn, instead Tennen has its own beautiful color changes that add effortless interest and texture to every project.
I of course love Tennen for this sweater, but one of my favorite games to play is the “what other yarn would work?” game. Every yarn has its own personality, which it will pass on to whatever you make from it. Are you more of a traditional Noro fan? In that case, consider Noro Silk Garden Yarn or Noro Taiyo Yarn for a more colorful version. For a luxurious dressed-up look, you could use Juniper Moon Farm Moonshine Yarn. This wool/alpaca/silk blend has a heathered sheen that is just as lovely as it is touchable. For a more casual, everyday piece that’s easy to care for you could also try it in a more basic superwash such as Plymouth Encore Worsted Yarn.
Regardless of what yarn you choose, the Mannequin Pullover Sweater Pattern is easy to make and flattering on many different body types. It’s so flattering and fast to knit – treat yourself or a loved one to a new favorite sweater!
