The Boucle Cocoon Vest Knitting Pattern is a simple project that uses modular knitting techniques and incorporated i-cord edges to create its unique shape. After knitting the Back, stitches are picked up along each side to continue working the Front seamlessly (Don’t worry, there are armholes in there too!). Neck stitches are eventually bound off, and each side of the Front is shaped separately to finish. The Front pieces are then folded back and stitched in place to create the pockets.
I love the texture these two yarns create, especially in the pocket area where you can see the subtle contrast between the right and wrong sides of the fabric. I chose i-cord for the edges mostly because I didn’t want to interrupt the simple, clean look – but also to provide a little bit of necessary structure. This vest can be worn a few different ways, and the color options are nearly endless. Choose the same shade for both of your yarns like I did, or mix it up for even more depth!
The gauge and pattern are also suitable for many heavier worsted weight or bulky yarns with a little bounce or texture. Try it in any of the following cozy yarns!
