This stretchy, drapey, amazingly graceful stitch is simple to learn and so versatile you’ll want to use it for everything. And when you’re done with this class, you’ll be able to! Starting with one color, you’ll learn basic brioche stitches both flat and in-the-round, along with simple increases and decreases. Mim is a fantastic teacher and she’ll teach you great technique and new tricks, and you’ll have plenty of fun along the way.

Prerequisites: Basic knit and purl stitches, knitting in the round, and yarn overs.

Next Steps In Weaving, with Sybil Shiland • Fri/Sat/Sun, June 29 – July 1st • $295 (Three full days, materials and equipment provided.)

This is a project-based class designed to aid students in reviewing and consolidating skills acquired in a beginning floor loom weaving class. Great for newer weavers or those getting back into it after a break! You’ll pick a project kit ahead of time (call us, we’ll help!) and then refine your skills as you weave the piece from start to finish with expert guidance.

Prerequisites: Students should have some weaving experience and/or have taken a beginning weaving class. Students should be familiar with the warping process as you’ll will be winding the warp at home before the class. Detailed instructions on making the warp will be included with your kit. Each student will warp and weave their projects on one of the classroom looms. Students are welcome to bring their own loom if they would prefer. Sybil will be available via e-mail leading up to the class for those who have questions or trouble with the warping at home.

Sybil is a talented weaver and wonderful teacher. This class is a great opportunity to take your craft further and dive deeper into the technical and creative underpinnings of weaving. Plus, you’ll leave with a beautiful finished piece!

Toe-Up Socks, with Mim Bird • Wednesday, July 11th • $20

With just a couple of tricks, you can start your socks at the other end and have the advantage of trying them on as you go for a perfect fit every time. You’ll take home a mini-sock that you can use as a template for making a full size sock. You’ll learn seamless cast on, afterthought heel, and stretchy bind off.

Prerequisites: familiarity with knitting, purling, and knitting in the round.

Begin To Spin, with Linda Clutterbuck • Saturdays, July 14th & July 21st • $195 (two full days, materials provided)

Linda is a master spinner and knitter and you’ll leave with the skill and confidence to keep spinning on your own, and to create the yarn of your dreams!
Day 1 – Learn the 3 T’s of beginning spinning: treadling, tension, and twist. Learn to treadle your spinning wheel and adjust the tension to put twist in the fiber to create yarn. You will also learn basic wheel mechanics and maintenance to keep your wheel fine tuned and running smoothly.
Day 2 – Learn the fundamentals of fiber prep, plying, creating a skein, and finishing the skein to ‘set the twist’.

Students should bring a spinning wheel in good working order, 3  bobbins, a niddy noddy, and a lazy kate. Equipment can be rented – just let us know when you register!
