Corrugated Mitts

Beautifully striped wool mitts in fingerless or full coverage versions!

The Corrugated Mitts knit up easily in your favorite sturdy DK weight wool. These mitts are a great introduction to working with two colors. We knit ours in Classic DK Wool, and kits are available in four of our favorite color combinations.

Corrugated rib is often used as an edging stitch for stranded colorwork. We’ve kicked this simple 2×2 rib up a notch by making a full piece in this simple technique. Carrying the second color along on the inside creates an extra layer of warmth without getting too bulky. The traditional peasant thumbs lie flat and the stripes highlight the shaping beautifully.

The kit contains pattern and yarn for the Small size of either mittens or fingerless mitts – please purchase additional balls for Medium and Large sizes.

The project requires:

one ball each of two colors (for Small size), OR
two balls of each color (for Medium and Large sizes)
US size 3 and US size 5 double pointed needles (or long circular needles for magic loop)
stitch markers

Classic DK Wool

Spun from premium grade, extra long fibers, Classic DK Wool by Jo Sharp is a pleasure to knit with. Beautifully warm, practical, and long lasting – at a great price! Available in a wide range of colors including elegant neutrals, juicy jewel tones, and classic heathers.

Yarn: 100% wool. Handwash in cool to lukewarm water with gentle washing liquid like soak or eucalan. Block/lay flat to dry. 107 yards/50 gram ball. Made in Italy.

Gauge: 5-6 stitches per inch on US size 5-7 knitting needles; 2.75-2.5 sts per inch on size 7 to I-9 crochet hook. Weaving sett: 6-8 epi tabby, 8-10 epi twill.

Recommendations:
