Simple Pleasures
Since previewing Madder - Anthology 2 / Simple Pleasures by Carrie Bostick Hoge back in January we have been anxiously waiting for it to arrive. This book is a stunner cover to cover and we’re so excited to offer it to you!
Madder Anthology II includes eleven sweater designs for women, two cowls, one shawl and a lovely beret, scarf and fingerless mitt ensemble. The sweaters have an impressive finished size range of 32″ to 51″ – 63″ with modern shapes that are flattering and easy to wear. The patterns use simple stockinette and garter stitches to create pieces with a beautiful balance of ease and sophistication.
We love them all, but allow me to introduce a few of our favorites!
Lucinda is a deep V pullover with two sleeve length options knit in Acadia by The Fibre Company Yarn. Oversized with 9″-10″ of positive ease Lucinda is a breeze to knit and wear! Deb is knitting one now in Acadia by The Fibre Company color 0010 (AC220Summersweet), requires 8 – 16 skeins.
Laurel is a sweet short row cowl knit flat in garter stitch then seamed to finish. I made one in Cascade Eco Duo, Baby Alpaca and Merino Yarn letting the natural shades of merino and baby alpaca highlight the subtle lines of the short rows. The result is a deliciously soft and irresistible accessory! The cowl shown is knit in colorway Cascade Eco Duo, Baby Alpaca and Merino Yarn color 0070 (1707Latte) and requires just two skeins. Try it in Moonshine by Juniper Moon Farm Yarn if you prefer more color.
The striped hood and inset pockets of the Madeline cardigan add a fun touch to this wardrobe staple. Sport weight yarn keeps it light and the perfect layer for a summer’s night stroll. Swans Island Organic Merino Ecowash Sport Yarn is the ideal yarn choice, choose a color combo today! Main color 8 – 14 skeins, 1 skein of a contrast color.
Don’t forget to pick up Carrie’s first collection Madder - Anthology I / Camilla, Sibella, Imogen, and Beatrice featuring four unique stitch patterns over several pieces.
